I’ll be honest here, I am not an avid reader. Right now I really don’t have time to read books. I am constantly reading academic journals for research for my PhD in Psychology. But I do love to listen to a good book. I find myself mostly drawn to either crime or motivational books.
Recently, I found a book and author that I fell in love with. First of all, let me tell you a few of my favorite authors, and really the list isn’t long at all. For crime I turn to Karin Slaughter and her Will Trent series. LOVE THESE!! I think I listened to almost all of them in one summer a few years ago and then was like, “Uhh what do I listen to now??” I love listening to books while Grace and I are traveling to horse shows. This is about the only time I really have to actually listen to a book.
Of course, who doesn’t love Rachel Hollis and her books. I started listening to her books a few years ago too, after I ran out of crime books! I do love her motivation and her straightforwardness! She has some great tips for entrepreneurs and I love that she supports women made companies. I also listen to her podcast when I have time!
Now for my new favorite author. I am not sure how I found her, but as soon as I listened to her book The 5 Second Rule I was hooked. Yes, it’s Mel Robbins. I loved listening to The 5 Second Rule. This book really got me through quarantine in March and April and It really made me stop and think about my daily life. Was I really living it to the fullest and if not, then what did I need to do! I would high recommend this book!
Yes, Audible does charge like a $15 fee monthly, but you do get a free credit monthly and their books to download are really decently priced.
So my recommendation during these COVID times would be to go pick up a Mel Robbins book and give her a try. Download one, order it, or go to the nearest bookstore and grab a copy of one of her books today.
